Book Work

At Musgrave Hill State School we have high expectations of bookwork from all of our students, from Prep to Year 6. All students are expected to adhere to our Bookwork and Presentation Guidelines.

Dress Code

Musgrave Hill State School is a strict uniform school. Under Sections 360-363 of the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, we have the support of our Parents and Citizens' Association to uphold 100% adherence to the uniform.

Our student dress code consists of an agreed standard and items of clothing, which includes a school uniform that Musgrave Hill State School students wear when:

  • attending or representing their school
  • travelling to and from school
  • engaging in school activities out of school hours.

Homework

After extensive consultation with our school community, a clear and consistent message emerged: children thrive when there is a healthy balance between school, family, recreation, and wellbeing. As a school, we strongly share this belief.

As a result, we have adopted a No Homework Policy, recognising that valuable learning also occurs through family interactions, community involvement, extracurricular activities, play, and rest. Rather than setting traditional homework, we provide limited and purposeful learning opportunities that support students' development without placing unnecessary demands on family time.

One exception is daily reading, which we strongly encourage across all year levels. Regular reading at home is one of the most effective ways families can support their child's learning, helping to build vocabulary, comprehension, fluency, confidence, and a lifelong love of reading.

Any tasks provided for completion at home are carefully considered to ensure they are meaningful, relevant, and beneficial to student learning. These opportunities are designed to enhance academic growth while also supporting students' social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. We believe children achieve their best when learning is balanced with time to explore their interests, connect with family and friends, and simply enjoy being children.

Student Code of Conduct

Education Queensland is committed to provisions that ensure all young Queenslanders have a right to and receive a quality education. The aim of the Student Code of Conduct is to assist all members of the school community to understand, accept and promote a set of agreed practices that develop a school culture where quality learning occurs.

This plan is designed to ensure that our school community is a friendly and safe environment – both physically and emotionally for all who work and learn here. Our plan is structured around the National Safe Schools Framework and incorporates the teaching of Values Education.
